OAU Former SUG President, Dr IBK Arrested For Alleged #720,000 Illegal Withdrawal From Student Union's Account

A former President of the Great Ife Students' Union, Oyekan Ibukun, who is popularly known as Dr. IBK has been arrested by the security department of the University for alleged illegal withdrawal of #720,000 naira from the Union's Account.

A campus new agency, Eagle post, was the first to break the news of the alleged illegal withdrawal of over seven hundred thousand naira from the Student Union account. 

According to the report, the President of the Union, Olayiwola Folahan Festus (Reform) collided with Dr. IBK to withdraw the stated amount of money from the Union's account without the knowledge of the Financial Secretary, Legbeti. 

The Union President in response to these allegations in a press release dated 9th of April, denied having any involvement in the alleged withdrawal from the Students' union's account, he revealed that the news was a shock to him. He assured Great Ife students that their money is in safer hands as he remains committed to his oath.

The Public Relations Officer of the Union, Ogunperi Taofeek Olalekan (TAO) also made further clarification on the shocking report in another press release. In the release, the steps taken by the Union were explained in detail. 

The Financial Secretary, Oluwasegun Joy Abiola (Legbeti) revealed the progress of the Union on the report on the 12th of April, 2022. In response to the steps taken by the Student Union, the bank conducted an investigation and gave out the details of the transaction. 

The investigation confirmed that the money was transferred by Oyekan Ibukun (Dr. IBK) via internet banking to one Bello Oyekunle Saheed. The bank added that all other access to the Union's account has been blocked and the money is being tracked so as to be recovered.

The PRO of the Union announced on Wednesday,13th April 2022 that DR IBK has been arrested by the security department of the University and has been transferred to Moore Police Station where the investigation into the illegal withdrawal will continue.
