OAU SUG PETITIONS AMOTEKUN, MEETS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF DSS

The Leadership of the Great Ife Student's Union has taken a step forward in their petitions against Amotekun over the assault of some OAU Students by meeting with the Director General of DSS, Osun State and the Commissioner of Police.

On Wednesday 4th of May,  the Union notified the General public and all students of Obafemi Awolowo University of this development in a press release titled "Assault on Great Ife Students: Great Ife SU Petitions Amotekun". 

Recall that the Union had earlier reported that some Great Ife students were assaulted by some Amotekun Cadets around Mayfair area of Ile Ife on the 29th of April around 3:00 am.

The Reform-led union, after receiving the report of the assault with video evidence presented to them, swung into action. They visited the office of the group but were engaged by no one. 

According to reports, not only an assault took place, a theft was also recorded at the scene. Aside from the fact that the victims were assaulted so much that one of them was hospitalised, another was stolen from while pleading for his life.

In response to this, the Great Ife student Union has petitioned the Amotekun with three demands on the case from the State Government. The demand goes thus: 

1. That those who committed this heinous act must be provided by Amotekun outfit for proper punishment;

2. That the money stolen from one of the victims must be returned;

3. That the medical bills of the victims must be paid.

The Union assured Great Ife students that their security is not compromised and remains a priority.
